Circle of Advisors

A trusted network of experienced advisors who help ensure our work stays grounded and relevant.

Grounded in Relationship and Experience

Tuvvik Strategies works alongside a trusted circle of advisors who bring experience, perspective, and knowledge grounded in Indigenous leadership, community work, and practical expertise.

"The work is stronger when it is informed by the people who have lived it — who have served in leadership, navigated complex negotiations, and built institutions from the ground up."

About the Circle

The Circle of Advisors reflects long-standing relationships with individuals who have held leadership roles within Indigenous Nations, federal and provincial governments, and major project and resource sector organizations. These are people whose perspectives have been shaped by direct experience — in governance, land stewardship, major project negotiations, and community development.

Their involvement ensures that the work Tuvvik Strategies does remains grounded, relevant, and aligned with the realities of the communities we support. They are not a formal board or committee — the Circle is built on trust, shared experience, and a common commitment to meaningful work.

Who the Circle Includes

Our advisors bring experience across the sectors and disciplines most relevant to the Nations and communities we work with:

Indigenous Leadership & Governance

Former Chiefs, councillors, and Nation administrators with direct experience building governance institutions, navigating self-government processes, and leading complex negotiations with federal and provincial governments.

Federal Crown-Indigenous Relations

Senior former federal officials with careers in Crown-Indigenous Relations, Northern Affairs, and Indigenous Services — bringing deep knowledge of federal policy, program design, and decision-making processes.

Legal & Treaty Expertise

Practitioners with specialized experience in treaty negotiations, land rights, duty-to-consult obligations, and Indigenous rights frameworks including UNDRIP implementation.

Resource & Infrastructure Sectors

Executives and advisors from mining, energy, and northern infrastructure with experience structuring Indigenous partnerships, equity arrangements, and impact benefit agreements.

Economic Development & Finance

Specialists in Indigenous economic development, community-owned enterprises, and the funding and financing structures that enable Nations to build long-term economic capacity.

Northern & Remote Communities

Practitioners with specific expertise in northern and remote community contexts — including infrastructure, logistics, environmental stewardship, and the unique policy and funding landscape of Canada's North.

A Note on Naming

You may notice that our Circle is described by profile rather than by name. This is intentional and reflects the nature of the work itself.

Many of our advisors remain active in government, industry, Nation leadership, or legal practice. Public association with a consulting firm — even one whose values align with their own — can create perceived conflicts of interest or complicate ongoing relationships. Their willingness to advise quietly, without public attribution, is a sign of genuine trust, not of a circle that exists only on paper.

"Our advisors prefer to work without public attribution, given their ongoing roles and the relationships that make their advice valuable. We are happy to discuss the composition of our Circle and, where relevant to a specific engagement, facilitate introductions directly."

If you have questions about the Circle or want to understand how our advisors might be relevant to your work, we welcome that conversation.
